Junior Systems Engineer
DEKA Research and Development, located in Manchester, NH, has an immediate opening for a Junior Systems Engineer to work in the Regenerative Medicine group. You will join a team that is developing electromechanical systems that monitor, control, and manipulate biologic materials to enable the manufacturing and deployment of cell-based therapies and tissue production. Systems Engineering is a high-visibility role with a significant, direct impact on the success of the project.
How you will make an impact:
- Work with a small, fast-paced group
- Translate explicit and implicit stakeholder needs into actionable design requirements
- Define critical system features and subsystems interfaces in sophisticated software, electrical, mechanical, and biological systems
- Conduct research and engineering testing to guide product development and system integration
- Perform risk management activities including: hazards identification, failure modes and effects analysis, risk analysis, root cause analysis, and risk benefits assessments
- Assist in the identification and evaluation of hazard mitigations
- Troubleshoot failures, analyze data, take part in system design review meetings, and provide feedback to development team
- Participate in brainstorming sessions on automation concepts, contributing interdisciplinary solutions to complex problems
- Help to ensure an overall level of product quality in line with DEKA’s quality and industry regulatory standards
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:
- MS/BS in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
- 1+ years experience in an electromechanical role (Must show examples of multi-disciplined experience)
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and techniques
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to function as an individual contributor with minimal direction
- Knowledge and deep understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Passion for biomedical technologies and problem solving using first principles thinking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented
- Cell culture lab experience and knowledge of common tissue engineering strategies a plus
- Experience in medical devices, knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (QSRs) and/or ISO 13485, and other medical device industry experience preferred
